Photography Essay

When people take interest in a photo normal it has these two things; symmetry and pattern. Symmetry is what makes the work in the photo seem simple but then with the pattern it can bring a lot of color and design. One thing to remember when looking at a picture though, it’s not going to be straight forward. It’s going to try to tell you a story which you are suppose to see and understand for yourself. It doesn’t have to be what everyone else sees but what you get from it. Also this reading really showed me the history of photography. Photography went through many phases because of the different artists and society in which it was taken.

Parts of a Letter

Learning the names for the parts of typography is important because you become more aware of how to relate design to words. In certain design areas you need to learn the different parts of letter writing. This can help and be very useful when designing logos or headings for advertisements or restaurants. I, personally, didn’t have any idea on the amount of letter parts there were and that each part had a name. By learning this vocabulary, designers, including myself, are able to understand, develop and manipulate the visual complexity and harmony of the alphabet. We will be able to use it in our life and have knowledge of how to use it. Once again, it is important to understand the parts of typography because you need to know how to relate it to the design world.
